The Academy has worked cooperatively with various bodies to ensure that only the most experienced professionals are included in our member roster. Note that there are no formal certification requirements for the private practice of mediation and arbitration in Massachusetts, nor any requirements for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) in this state.
Massachusetts Bar, ADR Standing Committee
The Bar's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Standing Committee is working to make ADR an integral part of the judicial system and a first step in resolving conflicts, not an afterthought. Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation (MCFM)
MCFM is a non-profit organization established over twenty-five years go by family mediators interested in sharing knowledge and setting guidelines for family mediation. is the oldest professional organization in Massachusetts dedicated to family mediation. With over 250 members, MCFM sets standards to guide the professional practice of family mediation in Massachusetts, and offers a certification program for qualified members.
